Become a Friend
36 years… Our 2016 Exit Survey revealed that 55% of our attendees are repeat visitors and that overall 99% of all respondents would likely return. We are proud that this totally volunteer committee can pull off “the best highland games in Atlantic Canada” year after year!
We count on our Friends donations to ensure that we can offer a full range of activities during our festival. Our total budget is over $130,000, with $15,000 coming from people like you in our Friends campaign. Being a Friend of the Games provides you with:
- A tax deductible receipt for all donations over $20;
- Access to the Friends Tent at the Games: refreshment and shade on those hot days!
- Meeting other Friends and dignitaries at the Games in our Friends Tent;
Our 2017 Games will have all the crowd favourites; the Heavy Events competitions, the Atlantic Canadian competitions in Highland Dance and piping and drumming competitions with massed bands.
Of special note this year is the celebration of the Fredericton Society of Saint Andrew Pipe Band’s 90th anniversary! They will be combining some of their celebrations with us on Festival weekend.
What a lineup we have this summer – we are excited to have Paul McKenna from Scotland followed by JP Cormier & Dave Gunning on Friday evening. Then Saturday evening we have Paul McKenna returning with Pogey. Too good to miss! Our daytime entertainers include local talent like Katherine Moller, Different Folk, HATband, Keith Facey, Frantically Atlantic, Oak Ash Thorn, Wicked Cry and Mark Roberts.
We are delighted with this year’s workshop lineup, with Chris Robbins and Barb Macaulay on Speaking Gaelic; Gordon Dougherty on Bodhran; and Barb MacKinnon and Bruce Noble offering an introduction to the lore and taste of the Haggis. Will Toner, Rod Campbell & Reginald Hayes will lead a Scottish sing-along and stories; Jacob Spencer of will host a beer-tasting and Frank Scott will host a whisky-tasting.
Thanks once again for your past support. Our hope is we can count on your caring support for 2017.
